“We have 1001 reasons to invest in sorghum”

A cereal plant with multiple benefits, sorghum has continued to gain ground in Europe, both in terms of production and outlets. This development is due to the mobilisation of all the actors in the industry. Whether they are farmers, breeders, technical experts, researchers, crop advisors or processors, they all contribute to expand the development of sorghum – and they have “one thousand and one” reasons to do it, given the wide variety of promising outlets and potential uses of the plant.

In order to further develop the European sorghum industry, with EU support, the FNPSMS and the PZPK will carry out a promotion campaign around the crop between January 2025 and December 2027, in four European states. The “climax” of that initiative will be the fourth European Sorghum Conference, which will take place between October 8^th and 9^th, 2025, in Budapest.

This will be an opportunity to state loud and clear that “We have 1001 reasons to invest in sorghum” – a slogan that will gather together all the actors in the industry, and which will be demonstrated through actual facts, both during the conference and beyond it.
