Romania, August 25th, 2026: All About Sorghum, in One Day!
“Sorghum is gradually becoming one of the most promising crops in terms of tackling tomorrow’s challenges facing Romanian agriculture: drought, production costs, and crop rotation diversification. Yet what varieties exactly offer the best performances in this country? Which production techniques should one favour? What markets outlets can this crop truly access at present?” To Iulia Blagu, farmer in Urziceni, Ialomița county, these are all fundamental questions.
To Iulia Blagu, farmer in Urziceni, Ialomița county, these are all fundamental questions. Which is why she has mobilised her company to host the Resilient Agriculture Day on her farm, on August 25th, 2026 – a technical event unique in Romania, which will enable participants to get on-site answers.
Under real farming conditions, with no irrigation, farmers will be able to compare among many hybrids developed by major seed companies on the Romanian market and discuss with experts of research centres such as RITAC and ARVALIS, which have been working alongside the domestic actors to develop sorghum in Romania.

Whether you already grow sorghum or you simply intend to include it into your rotations, the Sorghum Day of August 25th will provide the rare opportunity to witness the crop’s results in the field, benefit from local experience-sharing, and learn about the industry’s upcoming trends.
In addition to the agronomic observations, the event will bring together key actors in the industry who will talk about the economic outlook for the crop, the market needs, and the growth opportunities for sorghum in Romania in the coming years.
Why Can’t You Miss this Event?
- You will witness in real time the performance of the hybrids in actual local conditions (with no irrigation);
- Within the span of one day, you will be able to compare among hybrids developed by market leaders.
- You will understand the technical and economic tools that help you maximise your profit.
- You will meet key actors in the industry and learn about the sorghum market trends.
- You will take away concrete solutions to include sorghum in your rotations.

For the first time, major seed companies such as Lidea, KWS, RAGT, Advanta, and Alfaseed will gather together for a live event in the fields, for an exclusive presentation of their latest innovations. The event will be 100-percent outdoors, practical, and instructive.

Iulia took over her farm from her father, who had created it twenty-eight years ago. She aims to focus on field crops by constantly adjusting her agronomic practices and rotations in order to meet the challenges that face today’s agriculture.
Her farm is located in the Urziceni area, Ialomița county, Romania and it has 920 hectares. Her main crops are: rapeseed, barley, wheat, and sunflower. Weather conditions in recent years caused her to withdraw corn from her rotations and from now on, its place will be taken by sorghum.
